The Moving Violations Schedule

_._,

Hi all,

The Moving Violations would love to see you for our 3rd Sat. dance in Greenfield (401 Chapman Street) on Sat., May 20!  We’ll have a newcomers’ workshop at 7:30 p.m. and the contra dance will be 8:00-11:00 p.m.  We're excited to have Lisa Greenleaf calling with us, and we look forward to a fun and lively night!  Gender-neutral terms (larks and robins) will be used.

All the details are below, including Covid protocols.  To highlight two though, the bivalent booster and N95/KN95/KF94 masks are required for all.

3rd Saturday Series Verified Dancer List Info: There is no pre-registration for this dance.  There is also no attendance cap.  If you are already on the 3rd Saturday Verified Dancers List, we know that you've shown proof of vaccination + the bivalent booster, agreed to the Covid policies, and given your contact info.  ***If you're not on the 3rd Sat. Verified Dancer List, or you're not sure, please be sure to bring your vaccine + bivalent booster proof to show at the door.***  You can also email band@themovingviolations.com to ask if you're on the list if you want to check.  Registering at the door, you'll have the option to join the list moving forward if you wish.  Please note that it is up to each dance whether or not to offer this kind of list, and each dance maintains its own list.
Bivalent Booster: As a reminder, as of 11/15/22, the bivalent booster (i.e. any Covid booster received since 9/1/22) is required at the 3rd Sat. dance along with some other Greenfield dances.  The only exception to the booster requirement is if it has been less than 3 months since you had Covid.
Additional Covid Info: All dance series at the Guiding Star Grange have agreed to a shared Covid-19 policy, including requiring proof of vaccination + booster (for dancers, performers, and volunteers), requiring all dancers to wear N95/KN95/KF94 masks, exposure notification, protocols for maximizing ventilation, and more.  We recommend testing prior to attending, but do not require it except for certain situations.  The full policy is at https://tinyurl.com/GSG-Covid-Policy.  At this dance, all performers will be masked.  If you attend and test positive within 10 days of the dance, please let us know at band@themovingviolations.com so that we can provide (anonymous) exposure notification to those who attended as well as on PVCD and Facebook.
Facebook Event Link: https://www.facebook.com/events/939811404025522
Check-in will be just inside the door from the back parking lot starting at 7:15pm.  If you are not on the 3rd Saturday (The Moving Violations) Series Verified Dancer List, please be prepared to show your card or a photo of it at the door.  Proof is required even if you have submitted/shown proof for other Greenfield dances or previous 3rd Saturday dances (unless it has been in the last few months and you have opted into being on the 3rd Sat. List).
Admission: $12-20 sliding scale ($10 for students and children, $8 for under 13) at the door.
The overall Covid picture (as of 5/14): The band has continued to watch Covid metrics closely, and we are planning to hold the dance as scheduled.  The CDC's Community Levels and Transmission Levels data/maps are no longer available as of 5/11/2023 as they relied on reporting that is no longer mandatory (https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#cases_percent-covid-ed).  Regional Covid death, hospitalization, and emergency dept. visits are currently at green levels according to the CDC.  The release of Covid wastewater numbers in Western Mass. (including Franklin County) lag by over a week, but levels have fallen for Franklin County in the second half of April.  More current Boston area data and analysis show Covid wastewater levels in the Boston area have generally been approximately steady (with some modest ups and downs) since the last 3rd Sat. dance in April.  That said, the XBB1.5 omicron variant that's become the dominant variant in the Northeast and elsewhere has been called "the most transmissible" thus far by the World Health Organization.  Please note that while we feel the Covid precautions taken at the Greenfield dances continue to be extremely valuable and are helping prevent any known transmission at dances, there is still risk in coming and dancing and we can't guarantee 0 transmission.

See you on the dance floor!
